For the first time in history, Oklahoma will have its first female chancellor of higher education.
The state regents for higher education unanimously voted to hire Allison Garrett, who is currently the president of Emporia State University in Kansas, on Friday.
She will succeed the retiring Glen Johnson on November 8th.
Garrett graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 1984.
Dr. Kayse Shrum, The first female president of Oklahoma State University, issued a statement saying Garrett's leadership and experience will bring new perspectives and ideas to address pressing needs, like "meeting the intense demand for college-educated professionals to fill critical positions with companies across the state."
