A major construction project is underway on the east leg of the IDL around downtown Tulsa.

The $26 million resurfacing project is starting on the southbound lanes of Highway 75 where the road has already been torn up in preparation. ODOT said these lanes are expected to be closed until further notice.

They say the southbound, as well as the northbound lanes, will be getting new pavement, barriers, and lighting. Once work is finished on the southbound lanes, crews will shut down the northbound lanes to resurface those.

ODOT has closed several ramps in the area and traffic is detoured to other legs of the IDL. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead or find alternate routes to use while the project is underway.

The east leg is the last part of the IDL to be rebuilt. ODOT hopes to be finished by early 2023.
