Tulsa’s Oktoberfest is in full swing after the event was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

Now it’s back for the 42nd year, bigger and better than ever. This is one of the top-ranked festivals in the country and organizers say they've been preparing for a year. The festival is back with food, drinks, dancing, music, games, and of course, people wearing their Oktoberfest attire.

The sun shining, bands playing, people dancing, and carnival riding are all sights and sounds of Tulsa's Oktoberfest. Fanny Belle Mound went to the last festival two years ago. She visited with friends on Friday on a trip with her senior living facility.

"It feels wonderful. It feels like the things that we know, the things we have missed,” Mound said.

She says after all they've been through, it's good to be back.

"One thing is the dancers and the authentic dress and just the food, the atmosphere, it's just a fun place, plus you can talk to strangers,” Mound said.

There are traditional games, more than 80 beer brands on tap, and around 17 food vendors. You'll also see live performances from dancers like Carol and Don Wright. They're members of the German American society and have been in the dance group for 25 years.

But they're coming up on 60 years of being partners in dance and in life.

"We just enjoy keeping the traditions,” Carol said.

She says they love sharing German culture with the community through this traditional dance.

"Particularly if you saw the Sound of Music, they did this type of dance on the patio,” Don said.

If you're heading out this weekend, there's no public parking, but there’s a free shuttle is picking up from several locations.

Vendors only accept cards, except arts and crafts also take cash.
