Our main issue in the short term revolves around the fog and frost possibility across portions of Eastern OK and southern Kansas. A frost advisory is now underway until 9 a.m. for locations across southern Kansas and some spotty freezing temps may still be possible near and east of Highway 69, including the potential for patchy fog in some valley locations. Use caution while driving. Any fog activity should mix out around the 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. period with slowly decreasing clouds through the rest of the day as temps climb into the mid-50s. A light south wind returns today through the evening hours. Later tonight, in a few sheltered and valley locations of eastern OK, some brief fog and frost will be possible, but the return of the south breeze should alleviate any significant issues. Yet, another freeze warning will be underway for part southeastern and far eastern OK early Friday morning. The remainder of the forecast period features warming temps and increasing south winds before our next stronger system arrives through the middle of next week with additional thunderstorm chances.
Tomorrow morning once again supports the possibility of some patchy frost in some locations and patchy fog in others. By Friday afternoon highs will reach the upper 50s and lower 60s with sunshine and south winds near 10 to 15 mph.
This weekend starts with lows in the lower 40s and Saturday afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s with south winds from 10 to 18 mph. Sunday afternoon reaches the lower to mid-70s as south winds increase from 15 to 25 mph. Breezy weather is likely again early next week with afternoon highs remaining in the lower to mid-70s before storm chances arrive Wednesday.
Low-level moisture will be streaming northward by early next week as our next stronger upper-level wave nears the state. The potential for thunderstorms will be increasing from part of Wednesday to Thursday before a stronger front clears the state Friday bringing colder weather for next weekend.
Thanks for reading the Thursday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
