The Red Cross of Oklahoma says it is in urgent need of volunteers.
"Without the volunteers...we'd be in trouble," said Johnnie Munn, Red Cross of Oklahoma.
Red Cross needs help for this area's disaster action team.
The team responds to people affected by home fires, natural disasters and other emergencies.
Johnnie Munn said during this time of year there's a specific need.
"As temperatures drop, you know, fire responses usually kick up this time of year. And we absolutely need people who are willing to go out and respond," said Munn.
Munn said a lot of fires happen in the six-county region of Mayes, Rogers, Wagoner, Okmulgee, Creek and Tulsa counties.
He tells me these fires and disasters can displace people creating a difficult situation for them.
He said becoming a volunteer can put you in a position to help others in your community.
"Being there for someone in their darkest hour...is always impactful," said Munn.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the Red Cross call 1-800-REDCROSS or go online to www.redcross.org.
