Runners Participate In Route 66 Marathon Sunday Morning

The Route 66 Marathon, Marathon Relay and Half Marathons kicked off in Downtown Tulsa Sunday morning.

All of those races started at 8 a.m.

The half marathon course took runners through Downtown Tulsa, down along the Arkansas River and back to finish downtown.

The full marathon stretched East to the University of Tulsa and back.

Some runners said there's something that keeps them coming back.

"It's absolutely wonderful. We've participated in this event since we got started and it's absolutely our favorite," said Jana Rugg, Ambassador for Ainsley's Angels of America.

Runners who completed this race and the OKC Memorial Marathon receive a special "Oklahoma Standard" finisher's medal.

The Fun Run, 5K Race and the Mascot Dash all happened on Saturday.
