Many Tulsa OU Fans are excited to see Brent Venables as the new head coach. They say Coach Venables brings a lot of experience to the Sooners, and they hope he'll bring a few more championship rings!

Many Tulsa OU Fans are excited to see Brent Venables as the new head coach.

They say Coach Venables brings a lot of experience to the Sooners, and they hope he'll bring a few more championship rings!

Sooner Fans welcomed New Head Coach Brent Venables to Oklahoma last night with open arms and many say they knew the University would make the right choice for the job.

OU Club of Tulsa Co-President, Paige Cole says the atmosphere at the airport last night was exciting.

"Just the energy, the students that were out there supporting, it's just going to be a wonderful time for OU Football,” said Cole.

"Under the great leadership of President Harroz and Joe C we knew they'd find the right person and as of yesterday they did," said Assistant VP of Marketing and Communications for OU Tulsa, Tracy Kennedy.

OU Tulsa Team Member, Tracey Kennedy, is a long-time Sooner fan and says she's excited to see Coach Venables' passion back on the sideline.

"As a fan to see that sort of passion and energy I love to see it,” said Kennedy. “Bob Stoops has it, Barry Switzer had it, it's just a great continuation."

The OU Club of Tulsa was also buzzing when they heard the news.

Co-Presidents Chris Martin and Paige Cole say this is a good move for the Sooners.

“We're happy to see Brent come back home. he was a good coach when he got here and the fact that coach stoops hired him in the first place says a lot about him,” said Martin.

"He's exciting to watch because he's so animated," said Cole.

OU Student, Charity Page, says she can't wait to watch the team play under Coach Venables.

"I think our new coach is going to be great,” said Page. “He was under Bob Stoops before and it's just going to be fun to have him back."

And fans are hoping Venables will add a few more championship rings to his collection.

"He said today he's looking forward to taking us to the SEC and winning a few championships there," said Martin.

The OU Club of Tulsa says their next watch party is set for December 29th when Oklahoma plays Oregon at the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

They plan to share the location closer to the game HERE.
