Thousands of people in Green Country are getting special deliveries of poinsettias just in time for the holidays. Clients with developmental disabilities at A New Leaf in Broken Arrow oversee the project.
The Greenhouse at A New Leaf in Broken Arrow is a sea of red and white Poinsettias.
"This is probably our heaviest week of deliveries and they have been working since right after Thanksgiving," said A New Leaf CEO, Mary Ogle.
And that means one thing,
"I am always so impressed with the care our clients give and when they go out and deliver...they are just spreading Christmas cheer and holiday cheer," said Ogle.
Clients here at A New Leaf are hand-delivering more than five thousand Poinsettias to people all over Green Country.
It is a huge job but there is joy here.
"First, they have to sell the Poinsettias, then they have to make sure the orders are correct, they have to make sure Poinsettias are well cared for because Poinsettias are a tricky crop," said Ogle.
Every Poinsettia was grown with love by clients with developmental disabilities. Those same clients care for the plants until they deliver them. Every plant, a labor of love.
"I like delivering to people who support us and I have gratitude towards them," said A New Leaf client Andrew Presley.
From their Greenhouse- to you.
"They have so many barriers in life and sometimes they are not well received, or they have challenges in their life but...they work hard, they earn a living, and they are bringing great gifts to people all over the country. It is a win-win for everyone," said Ogle.
