A Tulsa Barbecue restaurant is getting ready to start preparing meals for Christmas Day to give to the elderly or those who can't leave their house for Christmas.

Stutts House of BBQ has done this for nearly 25 years except for last year because of the pandemic.

The owner says they want people to know their Christmas tradition is back.

"That makes us feel good to know that we can put a smile on somebody's face," says owner Almead Stutts.

Owner Almead Stutts says this started about 24 years ago when they decided to stay open on Christmas Day so people who didn't have any family, would have a place to go.

Shortly after, they decided to start delivering meals- free of charge to people who are homebound.

"As time went on people began to learn about us delivering food and they would call in, as a matter of fact, they would start calling right after thanksgiving, the first of December giving their name and their telephone number," she said.

She says the first year they had about 15 people, and it's grown even larger.

But, last year they couldn't do it because of COVID-19, and this year they are having a hard time getting the word out that the deliveries will happen.

"People that really don't have any family and some of them just want someone to talk to and one lady said to have a seat, sit and talk to me," she said.

Almead says it's a traditional Christmas meal, with Turkey and dressing, and plenty of sides and desserts.

All you have to do is call Stutts House of BBQ at (918) 428-2355 and give your name and address.

She says they are also in need of volunteers to help deliver the meals.

She says it brings her joy to help others in this way, and to make sure everyone has a smile on their face on Christmas.

"That we have been able to visit someone that otherwise would have spent Christmas alone without anyone coming to see them or having a Christmas dinner," she said.

She says if you'd like to order a meal, you need to do so before December 23.
