As COVID-19 cases ramp up in Green Country some families are rethinking their New Year's Eve Plans. An Epidemiologist with the Tulsa Health Department says we have tools this year, we didn't have at this point last year and ringing in 2022 with others is still possible.

Experts at the Tulsa Health Department say it is good to know some details about who you will be celebrating with- is everyone vaccinated? are they showing symptoms? Have they been exposed to someone with COVID?

Have you?

"If you know you have been exposed to someone who has COVID or has similar symptoms- stay home, get tested," said Epidemiologist Abhishek Shakya with Tulsa Health Department, "There are so many health professionals, all of these experts working- looking at the data and giving recommendations which avoid any kind of spread. I feel like people need to look more into the science factor."

If you're planning on going out to grab a cocktail or some food, experts recommend wearing a mask when you can and keeping your hands sanitized.

You can also take it a step further.

"Being outside is a very good option because you don't have that proximity, you aren't sharing the same airspace with the people inside," said Shakya.
