The Oklahoma National Guard is working with troopers to help stranded drivers get home safe.
Guardsmen have been camping out in Vinita since February 2 and said they're going where the storm takes them.
They are currently stationed at Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop L headquarters.
They said this is a good staging area with strategic access to the ground they must cover.
Captain Courtney May said it's been relatively tame in their neck of the woods and they've only been sent out on a few calls.
She said wrecks and common spots for getting stuck include on ramps, off roads, and when you hit a hill.
Captain May said they have large trucks, along with Humvees and some big wreckers if they get stuck on the way.
They've taken over OHP's training room by putting pallets under desks and using makeshift beds and cots.
May said getting to work with the National Guard has been a humbling experience.
"I get to work with people from all walks of life. From all over the state, learning about, you know, their civilian jobs and what they do on the side. It's just really, it's great to get to know other people and know that kind of no matter where you are in the state there's always someone who's gonna be able to help," Courtney May, Army National Guard.
If you need help on the road, call OHP at 911.
