A Green Country family in need wrote a letter to thank the nonprofits that have helped them put food on the table. Employees said they don't do their work for thank yous, but the letter made their week.

Employees said working with a nonprofit can be rewarding in many ways because of the immediate impact you have on someone's life.

For employees and volunteers at Food On the Move, the thank yous they get in return can be tough to come by - not because they aren't coming, but because there isn't much time.

"When we are at these events, it is my focus that we serve everyone who comes to the events - so I make sure everything is in place, that everything is running and to make sure the volunteers have all they need. I don't get much time to talk to the people who are coming through the line," said Rusty Rowe with Food On the Move.

One of the families who came through the line found a way to say thank you anyway by sending a letter.

Food On the Move is a nonprofit working to end food insecurity in Tulsa.

"Every kid, every family, deserves to eat healthy produce, have access to that," said Executive Director, Kevin Harper with Food On the Move, "Thanks to our partners, we set up three events every month. These events are food and resource events designed to help people have access to fresh produce. On top of that, we teach agriculture in a fun way at Monroe demonstration Academy."

Employees were in a meeting when the letter was read to the staff.

"The reason I am doing this- the reason I love doing this, is I grew up food insecure. My family had SNAPS, they used to be called food stamps. Emergency Infant Services put diapers on me and gave my mom formula. I am now able to do what I needed as a kid," said Rowe.

"It takes everybody to make a better Tulsa- and when we all come together, we really are Tulsa strong," said Harper.
