Rogers County Deputies arrested a woman who they said broke into a county maintenance site to siphon diesel fuel from a tractor while in possession of drugs.
Sheriff Scott Walton said Jessica Martin smelled strongly of marijuana. She told deputies she didn't have money for gas and that's why she broke into the site to steal fuel.
Walton said that doesn't add up, considering her Kia doesn't take diesel.
Sheriff Scott Walton said one of his deputies was driving by a county maintenance facility early Sunday morning along East 410 Road when he noticed its gate was open when it's normally closed.
Walton said just down the gravel road stood Jessica Martin.
"These people are threats. Regardless of what's going through their mind, they're serious threats," said Sheriff Walton.
Deputies said Martin was holding a gas can, standing next to a tractor with a steady stream of fuel running out its fuel tank, and a wrench used to remove the plug tossed on the ground.
"This gal mounts up in the Kia and takes off headed toward the deputy," said Sheriff Walton.
Walton said the deputy stopped Martin who had an Arkansas driver's license.
"She said she needed gas; however, she was stealing diesel and maybe this showcases the mentality of a pothead, because I think if she'd saved her money on the weed maybe she'd had money to buy some gas," said Walton.
Deputies searched Martin's car and said they found marijuana, meth, and fentanyl, along with two used glass smoking pipes in her jacket pocket.
"It's a buffet of drugs...," said Sheriff Walton. "We've got a scary medicated society."
Deputies also said they found two full gas cans in the back of her Kia, along with a crowbar, pliers, screw drivers, wire cutters and a siphon pump.
"I don't know what her next stop was or what her to do list included for that day but I'm thankful she's off the road," said Sheriff Walton.
Deputies arrested Martin for three counts of possession of a controlled substance, trespassing, possession of burglary tools, and larceny from a vehicle.
