An Osage County Deputy killed in a car wreck last week was laid to rest Friday in Ponca City.
Captain Willy Hargraves worked for the Osage Sheriff’s Office and was the Osage Cove Fire Department Chief.
Friday’s service for Captain Willy Hargraves had one thing in common: that he was well respected and very loved in the Osage community.
Since the crash, Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden said the support for their department and Willy’s wife and three kids has been overwhelmingly encouraging.
Dozens of law enforcement members formed a procession Friday morning to the funeral location with emergency lights flashing to pay respects to their friend.
Sheriff Virden, the Osage Cove Assistant Fire Chief, and others spoke about Willy saying, “he was always ready to help someone in need, even if he didn’t know them.”
They said this is a huge loss not only for the Osage Sheriff’s Office, but the community as well.
Hundreds of people came to the funeral to show their support, many of them members of law enforcement from across the state.
“Our goal today is to pay honor and respect and do what little we can to help them, but not only them, the law enforcement and first responders and fire department that are experiencing loss with this family,” Viden said.
The memorials at both the Osage Sheriff’s Office and the Osage Cove Fire Department are still up if you would like to add to them.
