Scattered Storms, More Heat For Northeast Oklahoma

An unsettled weather pattern is lingering to start off the week.

Some lucky folks have gotten under locally heavy storms over the past few days, and once again we’ll have that opportunity in a few locations for our Monday. Widely scattered showers and isolated storms are possible for the morning hours across northeastern Oklahoma. None of that activity is expected to be strong to severe.

Another window for widely scattered storms arrives during the afternoon hours. Once again, unfortunately, many will miss out so count your blessings if you get under one! But also be aware: A couple of those afternoon and early evening storms could become severe with damaging wind gust potential.

Outside of any storms, it’ll be a hot and muggy start to the week. Highs will climb back into the mid 90s, but heat index values will surge over 100 and could climb above 105 in some locations thanks to the return of higher humidity.

A more organized complex of storms looks to take shape to our north in Kansas by Monday night, eventually diving south. Unfortunately, right now it appears that the complex will be falling apart by the time it crosses the Kansas/Oklahoma state line. Some leftover showers from that complex look to be lingering across northeastern Oklahoma Tuesday morning, with a slight chance of a storm or two flaring up in southeastern Oklahoma by late Tuesday.

After Tuesday, rain chances diminish as a weak front moves into the area. It doesn’t look to provide us a big drop in temperatures, but it will lower the humidity which will still help our air comfort quite a bit from Wednesday into Thursday.
