The last day of August is bringing another Ozone Alert to the Tulsa metro and northeastern Oklahoma.
But first, enjoy some nice temperatures in northeastern Oklahoma for the morning hours! Some drier air moving into our northern counties has allowed our early day temperatures to cool off nicely, compared to southeastern Oklahoma where the airmass remains much muggier.
By the afternoon though, we’ll all be hot again with highs back in the lower to mid 90s areawide. The combination of sunshine, heat, and light winds could lead to more ground-level ozone development around the Tulsa metro, so an Ozone Alert is in effect. Once again, an isolated heavy downpour could pop up in far southeastern Oklahoma.
There are some changes as we head closer to the Labor Day weekend, with rain chances making a quicker return to parts of the area. Clouds and moisture increase quickly Thursday across southeastern Oklahoma, with some scattered heavy storms possible. Highs will be held down in the 80s in southeastern Oklahoma Thursday, with areas near and north of Tulsa still hotter with a bit more sunshine.
Previously our Labor Day weekend looked to be mainly dry and hot, but now it appears we’ll have a bit more of an unsettled setup. It won’t rain every day, but we’ll have some hit-or-miss storm chances daily through the Labor Day weekend. Those could occasionally mess with your outdoor plans, but of course we definitely need the rain! We’ll keep you updated.
I hope you have a great Wednesday, Green Country! can follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page to stay up to date with the very latest.
