Innovative Teacher: Katie Wilcox

News On 6 is teaming up with Every Kid Counts Oklahoma to recognize innovative teachers from across Green Country. This week's Innovative Teacher is Katie Wilcox, a 6th-grade teacher at Mission Intermediate Grade Center in

Coweta.

Ms. Wilcox finds ways to incorporate real-life examples into her lessons to get kids excited about math. This includes turning her classroom into a QuikTrip for her lesson on decimals. She also ties history into her lessons by introducing students to prominent historical figures in the math community. She's doing all of this while pursuing her Masters in Education.
