Warm temperatures continue across Green Country as the weekend approaches.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
The tail end of a shortwave trough currently ejecting across the central plains will bring a small mention for a few scattered showers across extreme northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas for the next few hours. These scattered storms are basically leftovers from overnight storms that developed across northwestern Oklahoma and southwestern Kansas. Another wave ejects into the central plains later tonight into Saturday with more scattered storms likely across the central plains region. A few of these may also briefly have some influence across southern Kansas but the probability remains almost too low to mention. We’re still expecting a midlevel ridge across Texas to expand north, bringing more hot and dry conditions to the state Sunday through next week. The pattern should bring a western U.S trough eastward by late next week that could bring a front and a few storms near the area by next weekend.
Temps on Friday will stay in the upper 80s east a few lower 90s near and west of Tulsa with south winds from 10 to 20 mph. Partly cloudy sky Friday morning will become mostly sunny into the afternoon. Friday night football games will kick off around 87 and finish in the upper 70s to lower 80s with a steady south breeze near 10 mph.
Temps this weekend will continue to climb. Morning lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s are expected with afternoon highs in the lower to mid-90s. Southwest winds from 15 to 25 mph will be likely across most of the area. As the ridge expands and grows slightly stronger next week, daytime highs will be in the upper 90s with the possibility of a few folks hitting 100. Low level moisture will increase some during this period, but the combination of dry conditions and gusty winds support the mention of increasing fire spread rates.
Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
