The 11 days of Awesome have finally kicked off and huge crowds are expected at the Tulsa State Fair this year.

The Tulsa State Fair is officially underway, and more than a million visitors are expected. One of the changes is that the Mega Ride Center is now inside, which will make it easier for people to enjoy the dozens of rides outside. Chief Operating Officer Amanda Blair said she hopes moving the Wristband Redemption Center inside will make the process easier for staff and fair goers.

"There is a big change for the mega ride pass this year. Your wristband redemption will be inside the SageNet center on the North side looking for the signage for mega ride pass redemption.”

Blair said tickets for the fair and for ride passes can be bought online and at the fair, and parking this year is the same as last year: first come, first served, and $15.

"Our goal at the state fair is to provide something for everyone. We have new rides, new food, new entertainment, and attractions and live music every day.”

People lined up outside the fair before the doors even opened Thursday, dreaming of rides and all things fried.

Maureen Coronado and 8-year-old Dalia were out for their first of many days at the fair.

“We look at all the horses and the animals and then the midway," said Coronado. "And it's fun and then we start looking for the food.”

They plan on going every day to sample shrimp on a stick, and turkey legs, and try as many of the 65 rides as possible.

“Opening day is an adrenaline rush," Blair said. "We're excited to come together to our community for 11 days of awesome.”

The fair is open until October 9th.
