Congress will hold a hearing today about seating a Cherokee Nation delegate in the House of Representatives.

Under a treaty, the tribe is guaranteed a non-voting delegate.

Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. named Kim Teehee as the delegate in 2019.

"We're going to get on the record, the case for America keeping this promise," Hoskin said. "It's a very simple case, and we expect action to come out of this hearing on seating Kim TeeHee before the end of the year. It's not a difficult thing to do and we've put in a lot of behind the scenes work to get here."

The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday in front of the House Rules Committee.
