Global Entrepreneurship Week is happening around the world, including here in Tulsa.
Events and panels are happening throughout each day at 36 Degrees North Basecamp downtown covering several different topics from starting a business to creating a brand. Global Entrepreneurship Week is a chance for businesses to showcase innovation in their own communities.
President and CEO of 36 Degrees North Devon Laney say Tulsa is ranked fourth in the country for activities this week. The workspace is hosting over 35 events.
"I think that speaks volumes to the amount of support here and the quality of the entrepreneurs here in Tulsa,” Laney said.
Laney says most of the programs are free covering subjects like launching a non-profit and the downtown Tulsa food scene. He says since 36 Degrees North is considered a home base for entrepreneurs, it helps curate this event each year leading efforts in the city.
"I think it's a really positive showcase globally because no matter where you are in the world, starting a business is hard. Being an entrepreneur is difficult, and so being able to highlight those successes, share in those stories globally and know that no matter where you are in the world, this week, everyone in communities is focused on entrepreneurs, building businesses, and what it takes to grow that community. I think it's really special,” Laney said.
The week-long event continues until Friday with a wrap party at Central Library.
