A steady stream of people stopped by all day to pay their respects and honor the lives cut short.

As people stopped by the scene of the crash, flowers, crosses, balloons, teddy bears, and debris from the car, made the weight of the loss sink in.

“It hits me that it’s actually real,” Brooklyn Kuster said. Kuster is a Sapulpa sophomore.

She said she did not know the victims well, but wanted to pay her respects.

“We don’t know what tomorrow holds, so we just gotta come together as a community,” she said.

Kuster said she recently got her learner's permit.

“It’s opening my eyes that I need to take precautions and stuff like this,” she said. “Because I can’t imagine what those families are going through.”

“She was my best friend,” Samantha Minney said.

Minney said her life won't be the same without Lacy Krause, who was just 17 years old.

“There was never a day that she could not make anyone smile,” Minney said.

Minney said seeing the memorial and learning how many people care about Lacy and the other victims, means a lot.

“The teddy bears. Lacy – there was never a day Lacy would not go without a teddy bear,” she said.

Carrie Belt said her stepson, Nayson Brockman, was one of the victims.

In a message, she said he "was a fun loving, good hearted kid. He had his whole life ahead of him. He loved his BMX bike and was awesome at doing tricks on it. He loved spending time [with] his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by the lives he touched."

"I need anyone that knows the driver's parents and the driver, it's not his fault. I don't blame him and never will, so anyone that knows him please let him know I don't blame him," Nayson's father, Brandon Brockman, said in a Facebook post.

Belt asked that people keep the other families in their prayers, and to pray for the driver, who is still in the hospital in critical condition.
