Chilly weather returns To Green Country after a day of showers and storms.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz:
Top o’ the mornin’ to ya, Green Country! Rain and storms are long gone, but unseasonably cool weather has made another return for Saint Patrick’s Day.
A stiff north breeze will stick with us, gusting over 20 miles per hour at times and keeping quite the chill in the air. Thankfully, sunshine makes a return! Keep the coat handy this morning and a jacket this afternoon as you head out to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with highs around 50 degrees.
If you’re looking for our next warm-up, well… temperatures actually get colder this weekend before we get warmer. As winds relax tonight, temperatures will fall below freezing across the majority of Green Country into early Saturday morning, with a hard freeze north of Tulsa where lows fall into the mid-20s.
A secondary cold front sweeps into Green Country Saturday morning that will reinforce the chilly airmass for the weekend. Despite more sunshine Saturday, our highs will struggle to climb past the lower 40s Saturday afternoon. And temperatures will really bottom out Sunday morning with lows falling to the lower 20s areawide. Some areas north of Tulsa could fall into the upper 10s Sunday morning!
Temperatures will slowly moderate in the days ahead but expect below-normal temperatures through early next week before more real-deal-type spring weather kicks back in around the middle of next week.
