The Cherokee Nation broke ground on a 12-acre housing addition in Muskogee on Tuesday.
The neighborhood, which is being called 'Warrior Addition' will start off with 12, three bedroom homes, but there are 30 lots available for future expansion.
The new homes will go to Cherokee families who have applied for housing through the tribe and were on a waiting list.
The tribe says it's in the planning stages for almost 200 new housing projects across its Reservation.
