A Jenks girls track relay team is having a record-breaking season. The girls have won every race they've done in the state, and still have a few more races this season.
"We've won every meet we've raced," said Junior Rachel Cornell.
They said they put in a lot of hard work and it's rewarding to see the outcome. The team has already broken three Jenks school records just this season.
"I would say the 400 and the 800 have to be the hardest of the races because it's a full out sprint for a full lap pretty much," said Junior Magnolia Crissup.
But it doesn't just come easy for Rachel Cornell, Oliva and Gloria Granderson, and Magnolia Crissup. The girls put in a lot of work, practicing every day at school.
"We practice very hard, and that creates a bond, I feel like, definitely.. kind of trauma bonding, but we have a good community, and we push each other and that's good," Sophomore Gloria Granderson said.
And with every finish line they cross, the girls bond gets stronger too. They're finding lifelong friends on the relay team.
"Usually in track I have my track friendships, and then my real friendships, and this feels like these are my real friendships now," senior Olivia Granderson said.
The team's record right now is 3 minutes and 49 seconds, just shy of the state record at 3.46.
With all the focus on state in a few weeks, the girls are hopeful they can not only win the state championship, but also get that state record.
"If we all ran our very best, and just left it all out there on the track.. I think it's a very big possibility we could hit that and that would just mean the world," Magnolia said.
