The fiftieth anniversary of Mayfest begins tomorrow and will be going on in the Tulsa Arts and Greenwood Districts through Sunday.

Volunteers and artists have put in hard work to get everything ready to welcome the crowds. Artist, Greg Davis, set up his tent, and made sure everything was secured. Davis is a photographer. It’s been twelve years since he’s had a tent at Mayfest.

“It's super cool to be back,” Davis said.

While he and the other artists worked on their own tents, other volunteers set up our different stages where almost 100 acts that will be performing.

"Anytime there is a big celebration in a city, it's nice to be a part of that because everyone comes out, everyone is in a great mood to help celebrate this time,” Davis said.

Tricia Milford-Hoyt works for The University of Tulsa, and is putting in a lot of work, since this is the first year T-U has run the event.

"In a hundred days we have really pulled together this golden anniversary of Mayfest,” Milford-Hoyt said.

She says it’s been a big undertaking, and it couldn't have been done without all the volunteers.

"These volunteers are amazing,” Milford-Hoyt said. “They ask tough questions, they offer information. You don't know what you don't know when you're starting something like this and to have our volunteers really make sure that Tulsa has Mayfest is really all of us, all of our mission that this is here for the community."

She hopes many people will come to the Arts District and support the artists, listen to the music, and eat great food.

"It's free, it's for families,” Milford-Hoyt said. “Just come on out and enjoy it."
