Former Nowata County Election Secretary Accused Of Raping Teenager

A former Nowata County election secretary has been arrested and is accused of raping a teenage girls he knows.

An affidavit said Cary Freeman raped the girl a number of times between September of 2022 until March of 2023.

After a forensic interview with the victim, Freeman was arrested in May of 2023, police said.

He's being held on a $1 million bond, but no charges have been filed yet.

Records show the State Election Board voted to remove Freeman as Election Secretary in October of 2022.
