Power is back on for nearly 2,000 residents in Tulsa after a truck driver crashed into a pole on Sunday.

Officials say the truck took down two transformers, and the Tulsa Fire Department had to use two hazmat units to help restore service.

Authorities say the driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

A crash in East Tulsa knocked out power Sunday evening after police said the car hit a power pole.

Tulsa Police said a man was driving down S. 129th E Ave. near E 31st St. when he crashed into the power pole.

TPD said the man should be OK, but he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

PSO said 1,980 customers were without power in the area as of 7:20 p.m., ranging from Route 66 down south along 129th past E. 31st Street.

Power was restored to most customers around 8 p.m., according to the PSO Outage Map.

The expected restoration time for customers is 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
