It's been nearly five months since the Father's Day storms hit Tulsa. One organization that helped in the relief efforts wants everyone to be more prepared for the next storm.
Recovery from that storm went on for months. In response, CityServe Oklahoma is holding a training summit for people to learn how they can help others in crisis when the next storm hits.
Participants at the summit will get hands-on training for tarping roofs, ripping out sheetrock, and even prepping food for people without power.
CityServe said we were not as prepared for the June storm as we could have been. By getting more people trained in relief efforts, they're making sure our community will be ready for the next disaster.
"We are excited that so many people have stepped up and want to serve in disaster relief. The ripple effect that will come from these trainings too will expand the resources that we have in our community, so that we’re prepared the next time a disaster strikes," said John Schemmer, Director of CityServe Disaster Relief Summit.
The free summit kicks off Thursday, Nov. 9 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 11 at Camp Victory on Keystone Lake.
They still have spots open if you want to register. CLICK HERE to learn more.
