Steve Turnbo was a longtime PR executive and advocate for the city of Tulsa and has passed away at the age of 78.
Turnbo moved to Tulsa when he was 8 years old and spent his life in Green Country.
He spent more than 50 years working with local businesses and was sometimes called "Mr. Tulsa" for his work in the community.
Mayor GT Bynum called Turnbo a "Great Tulsa leader" and said, "Steve was on the right side of every important public issue for decades."
See his full statement below:
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of a great Tulsa leader, Steve Turnbo. We just celebrated Steve’s birthday in September, and at that time I gave him the key to the city on behalf of a grateful Tulsa. As I told him at that celebration, Steve was on the right side of every important public issue for decades and had rightfully inherited the mantle of ‘Mr. Tulsa’. I am so grateful for his life of service to our city.”
The University of Tulsa remembered his contribution to the community.
