ODOT Holds Public Meeting For Proposed Glenpool Highway Intersection Improvements

Big changes are coming to Highway 75 in Glenpool.

ODOT presented its design at a meeting Tuesday that would raise Highway 75 over 141st Street and help traffic run better in that area. 

More than 100 people showed up to the meeting, passionate about the plan, with lots of questions.

They’re excited to see a change to an intersection that’s been causing them problems for years.

People say the traffic at 141st and Highway 75 has caused headaches for a long time.

“We’ve lived down the road from it for 20 years, and it’s about 15 years past due,” said Rick Flicker. “So I’m very glad to see it going on.”

“I think it’s great,” said Randy Dodd. “It’s been needed a long time. Especially the people commuting in the mornings and the evenings, it will make their life a lot better off too.”

ODOT plans to raise Highway 75 over 141st Street, which means the stoplight would be taken out, and people could get on and off the highway by ramp.

ODOT says people will still be able to cross the street, but some people say they’re worried about how it could affect kids walking home.

“There’s going to be a very important need for pedestrian traffic because 141st, they walk,” said Jana Flicker. “Our kid walks home from Glenpool Schools, so there’s a lot of pedestrian traffic that needs to be considered.”

ODOT hopes to start construction by Summer 2024.

Engineers say they will start with the side streets first, then move traffic on to those while they build the bridge and fix Highway 75.

“It’s going to make everybody’s life a lot easier,” said Dodd. “We’ll get it done! We’re going to hold our feet to the fire, but we’re going to get it done!”

ODOT is asking for people’s input, and people can fill out a form online before December 5th.
