Communities continue to rally around 19-year-old Cage Stidham after he was injured in a car crash near Inola last month.

In that crash, Stidham sustained a traumatic brain injury and his road to recovery is ongoing.

Stidham was ejected from his truck during the crash and he was not wearing a seatbelt, The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

His cousin, Bailee Graham, who said Cage is in stable condition and opens his eyes several times in a day. She said he also moves his arms and his right leg, and is breathing entirely on his own.

The family said Cage is on his way to healing, but it will take several months and maybe even years to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

His family is looking for support during this time, especially with him needing to go to a long-term care facility once he leaves the hospital.

"With them living so far away, his mom has been staying at the hospital every second. So she’s having to pay for food there and it's expensive to stay in the hospital in ICU. There also was the helicopter ride for him," Bailee said.

If you are interested in supporting Stidham and his family, you can donate by going to any BancFirst location and asking about the Cage Stidham Benefit.

All of the money will help with medical bills and supporting the family.

His friends and family members are also starting a campaign called "Click It For Cage," to remind people to buckle their seatbelts every time they're in a car.

Editor's Note: The OHP report about this crash stated that Cage is from Bixby. However, his family says he split his time between Coweta and Inola. This article has been updated to reflect his family's statements.
