Minority business owners will soon have an opportunity to learn how to take their organizations to the next level with a new cohort in Tulsa.
The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce said the goal is to help minority business owners take advantage of contract work.
The Greenwood Chamber said it is expanding efforts to help business owners throughout Tulsa, not just on Black Wall Street.
Dr. Angela Chambers said the chamber is launching the new cohort starting December 11. It will teach owners skills and best practices to grow their operations.
Dr. Chambers said the group will eventually offer a second and then a third cohort.
The ultimate goal is to help minority business owners gain experience to increase their wealth, so they can provide more jobs in the community.
"It’s going to be hands-on. We’re looking at contracts that are available now and finding out, 'are you a good match? can you bid on this?' Can you do this work or can you sub it out to someone else? Can you still get the contract and maybe help another business owner with some work," Dr. Chambers explained.
You can still register for the six-week cohort. You can RSVP by emailing Dr. Chambers here: angelakchambers@yahoo.com
The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce is also looking for funding from different agencies to help provide scholarships for some businesses.
