Kids in Tulsa spent their Saturday hitting the ice learning the game of hockey.

The Tulsa Oilers began a six-week program designed to get children interested in the sport.

Kids from three to 16 years old laced up their skates and hit the ice.

Organizers said even if they don't know how to skate, come on in because it's the best way to learn.

"We've got instructors out there," said Justin Lund with the Oilers Ice Center. "It's basically just an introduction to hockey. So our goal here is to continue the growth of youth hockey, and this is a great way to combat instructors."

Students learn everything from puck control to passing and shooting.

The Oilers rent out all the equipment needed to play and also have programs for adults to learn.
