The City of Tulsa said its crews have been out since Sunday night, treating roads after freezing rain developed.

City officials said that as of noon the arterial streets are currently passable, and the crews plan to continue working through Monday.

It is still recommended that drivers slow down and keep a safe distance between your vehicle and others on the road.

The Winter Storm Warning ended for most of Tulsa and Creek Counties at noon on Monday. Residential roads and parking lots can be deceiving as they just appear to look wet due to the rain. However, many surfaces are slick because of the below-freezing temperatures.

Non-treated roadways will be slick and hazardous across most of the area early Monday morning before surface temperatures slowly climb above freezing between noon and 1pm from south to north.

Additional rain should continue into the afternoon before ending.

The City of Tulsa said several facilities will be opening later Monday, Jan. 22, because of the icy conditions.

When Will the City Of Tulsa Pick Up My Trash & Recycling?

Here is the message from the City of Tulsa

"Due to the slick conditions, haulers had to postpone refuse collection on Monday. They will resume collecting trash on Tuesday. We kindly ask for your patience and request that you leave your cart at the curb for collection. For those who have backyard service, please make sure that the haulers can access your gate. They will make every effort to collect everything by the end of the day on Friday but will work on Saturday if needed.
There will be no recycling collections this week due to a planned outage for the recycling plant on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please place any extra recycling in a recyclable container next to your recycling cart for collection next week.
Bulky waste collections are on a delayed schedule, but the collections crews will make every effort to collect your items in a timely manner. Please be patient, and they will try to catch up throughout the week as the weather improves."
