New Indoor Workspace In Bixby Keeps Kids In Mind

A new business is giving parents a place for their kids to play while they work or unwind.

Tulsa Play & Cafe opened its doors in December at 12800 S Memorial Dr. in Bixby.

It has five unique indoor play spaces custom-built by the owner Chelsea Archibeque's husband.

"I really designed everything like all my favorite things as a kid to play," she said. "I loved playing pretend with my sister and playing restaurant, office, and salon."

Archibeque thought through every little detail. Both restrooms have a changing table and toddler seats that fold down to help with potty training. Safety is also a top priority with a gate surrounding the entire play area and non-slip socks required inside.

On the other side of the business is a cafe that serves locally roasted coffee from Topeca, pastries, and vegan, dairy, and gluten-free snacks.

Archibeque said, "I have really been to a lot of indoor kid entertainment businesses, and a lot of them I feel did not cater to adults, so that is where the cafe came into play."

So far, the idea has been a hit among parents. "Just to see other moms appreciate all the details that I put into everything and enjoy the space as much as I hoped that they would, it has been really rewarding," Archibeque added.

Recently she added a new area to the space to help support other moms with local businesses.

"Our new Mompreneur of the Week corner is a brand-new space that will promote local mom businesses," said Archibeque.

This week Trendy Tots Co. is selling its sleepwear for babies and toddlers out of Tulsa Play & Cafe. It fits into the small businesses' "Pajama Week" theme where anyone wearing their PJs gets $1 off of play or $1 off an item in the cafe.

Play regularly costs $10 per child and non-slip socks are required.

Tulsa Play & Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Starting in February it will be open 7 days a week. It also has a drive-thru.
