The Tulsa Fire Department is honoring the life of Harrison Moseby in a way that keeps him a part of the department forever.

Moseby was a firefighter who died last week after a fight with a rare form of cancer.

While fighting cancer, fire chief Michael Baker said Harrison took part in seminary school, even receiving an honorary fire and EMS chaplaincy. During Moseby’s funeral on Wednesday, Baker announced Moseby as a chaplain to keep him with the department moving forward.

“He swore to protect you and the citizens of this community,” said Baker. “He has done so with grace, honor and strength. For that, I am forever grateful and I hope you are as well.”

Harrison’s family said his faith was his foundation and he wanted to be a missionary when he was a kid.

“Although this race was assigned to Harrison, it was not easy,” said his wife, Mallory. “But, Harrison was never discouraged when there was a setback. He was empowered because he knew that each obstacle or closed door was another opportunity for God to use him.”

After a final radio dispatch, firefighters carried Harrison’s casket to a firetruck. From there, crews from all over Green Country escorted Harrison along Highway 169 to his final resting place in Collinsville.
