Maybe it was the crowd, maybe it was being back home for the 1st time in two weeks, or maybe it was the gold jerseys. Or maybe it was a combination of all three. The TU Golden Hurricane overcame a 15-point deficit to stun rival Wichita State 79-68 at the Reynolds Center Wednesday night.

Down 11 at the half, Tulsa outscored the Shockers by 22 points to secure the 11-point win. Tulsa has now won back-to-back conference games for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

PJ Haggerty and Cobe Williams led the Hurricane with 23 and 21 points. For Haggerty, who was named AAC Freshman of the Week for the 8th time earlier this week, it was his 11th game with 20+ points. It was also his 15th straight game with 23 points. Tyshawn Archie also added 10 points in the win.

Tulsa's victory spoiled the return of Wichita State head coach Paul Mills. Mills, who is in his 1st season as head coach of the Shockers, spent 6 seasons as head coach at ORU and went 2-3 against the Hurricane as head coach of the Golden Eagles.

Tulsa improves to 12-8 on the season, 3-5 in the AAC.

Following the game, head coach Eric Konkol and Haggerty met with the media to talk about the winning streak, feeding off the crowd's energy, and looking ahead to a showdown on the road at No. 20 FAU on Saturday.
