The calendar has changed to January, and the TU's men's basketball team has turned its attention to conference play. And what a way to start. The Golden Hurricane hosts No. 15 Memphis on Thursday night at the Reynolds Center in the AAC opener for both teams.

This is the 2nd straight season TU opens conference play by hosting the reigning conference tournament champion. Kelvin Sampson and Houston came to Tulsa last year. This is also the second year in a row that Tulsa and Memphis will play just once in the conference schedule. Both times in the Reynolds Center.

The Hurricane comes into Thursday AAC opener on a four-game winning streak, and a 9-3 record. Tulsa is also 9-0 at home this season, that's the best mark since the 2018-19 team also started the season with nine straight home wins.

TU head coach Eric Konkol met with the media on Monday to preview Thursday's matchup against Memphis, and to preview conference play.
