Two Native designers are back home in Oklahoma from New York Fashion Week.

Lea McCormick and Kels Cooper join Tess Maune on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to talk about their experiences.

What was New York Fashion Week like?

"Busy, it was a lot of fun. We had a lot to do. Lots of running and pinning and dressing and undressing," Lea continued, "It went very well. We got a very good reception."

What is Rise NYFW?

"That is an organization that promotes people of color in the fashion industry. So if you're a person of color that is a fashion designer and you would like to be in New York Fashion Week, you can apply with them. And they're very supportive. I talk to them all year round. They call and check up on me and stuff like that. They're very supportive people," Lea explained.

Why is it important to you to showcase Indigenous people in fashion?

"You know, we're not a huge population. We used to be but we're not. And for us to have representation in all spaces, we're worthy of it. And so we need to be out there in the front of everybody," Lea said.
