Investigators said DNA evidence was the key to identifying the person who stole $47,000 worth of jewelry almost four years ago.

Police said Michael Shaffer cut his hand while smashing display cases at a jewelry store near 11th and Harvard.

Shaffer was arrested in Midwest City in October on a sexual assault case, and his DNA came up as a match with the blood from the jewelry theft.

He's now facing charges for both crimes.
