No Risks Found After Threat Made To Lewis & Clark Elementary, Says Tulsa Public Schools

Tulsa Public Schools confirmed that an elementary school in the district was threatened on Friday but said officers quickly secured the building.

According to TPS, a threatening email was sent about Lewis & Clark Elementary School and school officials quickly contacted law enforcement who swept the building on Friday. Officials said that no suspicious materials were found during the sweeps and that the investigation determined that there was no threat present. At no time were students or team members in any danger.

In a message to parents, the district stated that Lewis & Clark Elementary would operate on a normal schedule on Friday with normal dismissal procedures. District leaders said that campus police are maintaining an increased presence for the rest of the day.

TPS released the following statement to parents.

Tulsa Public Schools engaged law enforcement in precautionary searches of Lewis & Clark Elementary School today after receipt of a threatening email message. Our Campus Police Department responded immediately to ensure the continued safety of our school community. Law enforcement sweeps have not discovered any suspicious materials and Campus Police is maintaining an increased presence on site for the duration of the day. As an added layer of precaution, the Tulsa Police Department has provided additional support and presence. Today’s investigation concluded there was no threat present. At no time were students or team members in any danger.
We appreciate how our team members immediately alerted Team Tulsa security and leadership. Our team promptly implemented safety protocols, alerting local authorities and the Lewis & Clark school community. Law enforcement is investigating the source of the original threatening message.
