The Arlington Renegades of the UFL announced on Wednesday the coaching staff that will assist head coach Bob Stoops for the 2024 season.
The 2023 XFL champions will feature a lot of familiar faces on the coaching staff, with several coaches serving on staff last season.
Rick Mueller will serve as the General Manager. On the offensive side of the ball, Chuck Long will be the offensive coordinator as well as coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers. Long is a Norman native, and was on the Stoops' coaching staff at OU from 2000-2005. Jonathan Himebaugh and Reggie Lewis round out the offensive coaches. On defense, Jay Hayes will serve as defensive coordinator, and will be joined by Bill Sheridan and Marvin Sanders.
Matt McMillen returns to the team as a quality control coach after serving as the team’s director of team operations last season. Scott Spurrier will also serve as special teams coach after being the tight ends and special teams coach previously.
"This seasoned group brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to excellence," said head coach Bob Stoops. "The familiarity and cohesion within our coaching staff are invaluable assets as we gear up for another championship campaign. We believe in the strengths of our team on and off the field, and this staff plays a pivotal role in cultivating success."
The Renegades open the season Saturday, March 20th, at home against the Birmingham Stallions.
