The Gathering Place was full of music and fun as people celebrated Labor Day weekend with Tulsa's “Big Dam Party.”
“You should definitely come out here because it's really fun,” said Kali Watson about the party.
Many people put on their dancing shoes and busted a move as they listened to the “Eaton Out Band,” Steph Simon and more, “a little bit of hip hop so that was nice to see, an intellectual group, and overall, we've had a good time here,” said Dominee Watson.
For Watson and her family, it was a great way to celebrate the holiday weekend.
“We wanted to enjoy the weather, do something different. We don't get out much so we just wanted to enjoy something that was free for the kids and give us an opportunity to spend some time together,” said Watson
People of all ages were getting in the groove as they listened to the music, and of course checked out the larger-than-life rubber duck.
“I think it's very fun and like playful because what I was doing, I was rolling in the grass while I was listening,” said Kali.
While the weekend brought many Tulsans to the park, it also attracted a few out-of-towners. Saylor McHam and her daughter Audrey came from Arkansas to check off Audrey's first-ever concert — Hanson.
“We've been listening to them for a long time, 'MMMBop' is her favorite, my daughter's favorite song, that she listens to on the way to school every day, and so when we heard they were going to be just a couple hours away we had to come,” McHam said.
Whether you were from near or far, the “Big Dam Party” was at the top of the weekend's charts for almost everybody.
