University of Oklahoma junior linebacker Kip Lewis was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week after his pivotal interception in the Sooners' 27-21 victory at Auburn.
Lewis picked off a pass from Payton Thorne and returned it 63 yards for a touchdown, giving Oklahoma a 22-21 lead with 4:06 left in the game.
This was his first career interception and marked the fourth-longest touchdown return by a linebacker in program history.
Lewis also contributed five tackles and a tackle for loss, ranking fourth on the team with 21 total tackles, 12 of which have come in the last two games.
Oklahoma has an open week before playing Texas on Oct. 12, at the Cotton Bowl.
