The Tulsa Oilers have their own version of Super Tuesday. The city's Central Hockey League team hosted its third annual Tulsa Public School Day game on Tuesday at the Tulsa Convention Center.
The day game rewards students with good grades and attendance. Team members also teach kids about the importance of exercise and good nutrition. Lunch is provided, and of course all the basic food groups are represented.
The Oilers say it's a great way to introduce kids to our local hockey team.
"A lot of these kids will want to come back with their parents. We've heard some kids say, ‘oh we were here last year,' so we know it's become a tradition that they look forward to," said Steve McCall with the Oilers.
About 5,000 kids from 32 different Tulsa schools took part. Everything was free, including souvenirs.
