Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti fielded questions for over an hour at his end of the season media availability on Monday.
Presti cleared the air on a lot of looming concerns from the fan base – notably the future of head coach Billy Donovan. After three consecutive first round exits for the Thunder, many wondered if Donovan was the right fit to lead the team moving forward, but Presti confirmed he expects him back as head coach.
“We anticipate Billy being back, “ Presti said. “If anything were to change on that, we would have to let you know.”
Another concern was the health of Paul George – who was having an MVP caliber season before a shoulder injury slowed him down in the second half of the season. Presti says George will be medically evaluated by a specialist in another city, but said the team and its doctors decided George was cleared to play through the shoulder issue.
News 9 Thunder Reporter Steve McGehee just finished his fourth season covering the team – at home and on the road – and has more on Presti’s media session in the above video.
