The family of a man accused of murder says he's not a killer, but a traumatized witness. However, police booked him into jail in connection to a double murder they say happened when a drug deal went wrong.
Damien Woods' family said he didn't run from the murder scene because he was guilty, they say he ran because he was terrified after watching his best friend die. It took Damien Woods seven days to turn himself in to police and his cousin Angie Pitts said it wasn't an easy process.

"He is so terrified and messed up having seen his friend get killed. That is the only face he sees," said Angie Pitts.
Family members brought Woods to the police station Thursday night but he was taken straight to the hospital. Angie says he was traumatized after seeing his best friend shot and killed in front of him.
“Four times he tried to kill himself. He had a nervous breakdown. He is not in his right state of mind," said Pitts.
She said Woods told her he didn't have a gun the night of the murders. Pitts said Woods told her the victims were killed by another man inside the apartment.
"Damien Woods said he ran out of that house terrified and shocked. When they shot him, he was right there next to him," said Pitts.
An affidavit said the other man charged with the murders, Robert Griffin, admitted robbing the victims but said when the robbery went south Woods shot one of the victims.
“He's not a monster. Quit making him be the monster. He did not kill that kid," said Pitts.
Woods was booked into jail two hours after he turned himself in and was checked at the hospital.
Pitts said the situation has destroyed the families of everyone involved.
