Police were called to the 2700 block of 45th Street North around 4 a.m. Thursday and said a man and his son showed up at a house and kicked in the door.
A fight broke out, and police said the father was hit with some type of weapon. Police said he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
They said a woman received facial injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Sherry Smith lives nearby and said she came out of her house after the assault happened.
"They're yelling, 'Call 911.' So, I go over there, they're still yelling and screaming. They're picking up this guy who's laying on the ground with his head bleeding, dropping him back down," Smith said.
Police are still investigating and have at least four witnesses that they are interviewing.
