Burglars in Sapulpa cashed in big when they got into an unlocked car; the whole thing was caught on camera.
The thieves not only found bags of new clothes but a garage door opener that allowed them into the house for an even bigger haul.
Police said the thieves were looking for opportunity in unlocked vehicles, looking for valuables and also garage door openers.
Police hope the surveillance video will lead them to an arrest.
The video shows thieves trying the doors of a vehicle left in a driveway Tuesday night. At one point, you can see someone rummaging through the SUV and another crouching down with the stolen goods in hand.
"They got my AirPods, a bag of Ross and Marshall's clothes, about $300 worth of stuff and a garage door opener," victim Brent Middleton said.
The thieves stole clothes and electronics from his unlocked SUV parked in his driveway then used a remote control inside one of the cars to get inside Middleton's garage. From there, Middleton said the thieves took off with $6,000 worth of equipment used for his photography business.
"I walked outside to get in the car and the center console was open. I was like, 'What?' and the garage was up, and I look in the garage and the stuff's gone," he said. "They stole my peace of mind along with my equipment."
Middleton said he's locking his vehicles from now on. He said taking the extra time to protect yourself can save you a lot of worry in the long run.
"We'll give an award if somebody has information that leads to an arrest, or, better yet, leads to the kid bringing my equipment back and not getting arrested," he said.
If you recognize anyone in the video call Sapulpa Police at 918-224-3862.
